Maesbury Canal Festival Montgomery Canal 1/2nd September 2012
Good support.
l received a boost when the Prince of Wales referred to the restoration of the Montgomery Canal in his recorded message for the launch of the Canal & River Trust.
Plans for the Festival, on 1st and 2nd September, are well advanced, with over 30 boats booked in, some coming over 100 miles by canal, from the East of England, the Midlands, as well as nearer in Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales.
Judith Richards, who chairs the Festival Committee, said , "This has already been a special year for the Montgomery Canal. Our Triathlon in June brought 180 people to tackle the challenge of cycling, canoeing, and walking the 35 miles of the canal from Newtown to Welsh Frankton”.

the canal can offer our area. We are delighted with the support of boaters and everyone
bringing stalls and entertainment. Over 30 boats will be coming, from all over the
national canal network. We will have stalls, crafts and entertainments, and thanks
to our sponsors, and our own money-
