The Dawdle was started by Mick Bates A.M. For Montgomeryshire and children from Arddleen Primary School.
The Dawdle had to pass over a total of four dropped bridges, two of which crossed the main A483 Trunk Road before it reached its destination at the new Llanymynech Visitor Centre and Heritage Area. On the way, it passed through the two Carreghofa llocks with a break for lunch at Parsons Bridge (99) where Offa’s Dyke Footpath joins the canal.
At Llanymynech’s wharf and visitor centre, there was a short ceremony in which plaques were presented to participants in the event by Mrs Dilys Gaskill, chair of the Llanymynech Heritage Partnership.
