WORKING BOATS VISIT THE ‘MONTY’
Walking down from Queens Head on a beautiful day in February we found
the restored -
Shropshire Union R & C Co working boat
SATURN
We walked down past the Aston Locks , viewing the site of the new off-line
nature reserve construction that is to be seen on the off-side of the canal.
On our way back, as we approached Aston Bottom Lock, a pleasant surprise
was to meet our eyes. Leaving the lock was the restored -
Fellows, Morton & Clayton Ltd working boat
PLOVER (No 94)
Proceeding to the top of the lock, another surprise was in store.
Another restored working boat was waiting to enter the lock,
this time it was the -
W H COWBURN & COWPAR Ltd. Manchester working boat
SWAN
To be followed shortly after by the -
METROPOLITAN & MIDLAND working boat
BUCKDEN (No 6)
Seen here after leaving the lock.
What a wonderful experience to add to the enjoyment of a walk by the cut.
Maybe we should be nostalgic and remember them like this:-
WHAT A WONDERFUL SIGHT.
I HOPE WE SEE THEM AGAIN.
