NEWTOWN CANAL WALK NOV 10th 2007
The Canal Walk on the Montgomery Canal
Started at 10am from the Wagon And Horses, Lower Canal Rd , Newtown.
The walk of approx. 3 miles was well attended and led by a local Newtown Historian.
Walkers followed the path of the canal from Newtown end and visited Newtown Pumphouse site near to Bridge 158a
This was followed by a visit to Rock Lock
Then Dolfor Lock
Then Freestone Lock, below which the feeder from Penarth Weir enters the canal.
A visit was then made to Penarth Weir on the Severn to view the feeders source.
