NEWTOWN PUMPHOUSE.

 

The photo’s below show the Pump House and  Basin Area in the early1900’s

They are shown by kind permission of Mr  Syd Egerton (who lived in a house backing onto Newtown Basin) and his Daughter  Anne Sloman who kindly sent them to me.

Newtown Pumphouse in the early 1900’s.

Seen looking across the River Severn at the 22ft diameter undershot waterwheel that was used to lift water from the river into the canal.

The name below the photo was the name of the the Gentleman who looked after the structure from 1921.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Newtown Pumphouse Chimney.

Work was evidently being done on the chimney.

Workers houses by the Newtown Basin.
