Pooh sticks with a purpose!
Trevor Basin by the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct
The Shrewsbury District & North Wales Branch of the Inland Waterways Association invite you to join in a ‘Life Ring Race’ to symbolise rescuing the waterways, as part of the continuing campaign against the DEFRA cuts. Navigation will be brought to a halt whilst suitably decorated life rings
race along with the current.
A prize will be awarded to the best decorated life ring which depicts the consequences of the cuts to the funding of the waterways! Judging will take place at 11.00am by the aqueduct before the race begins.
The race will start in true Pooh Sticks style.
The rings will be dropped with a splash from Footbridge 32 and finish by Bridge 31 at the entrance to Trevor Basin.
To prevent a ring jam heats may be held, the winning entry going forward to the next heat and finishing with a grand finale and prize giving ceremony.
