4th   March.     Sunday.             St. Davids Day Walk.

It is with regret that I had to make the decision to cancel

the St David’s Day walk due to adverse weather conditions.

   17th  March.                     Welshpool Litterpick.

                                       Meeting 10.00am at Welshpool Wharf.

Sorry — Also Cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

   22nd April.   Sunday.

        St. George’s Day Walk.

Walkers should arrive at Canal Central, Maesbury Marsh,

at 9.45am, on Sunday 22.04.18,  for a 10.00am start.

Starting at Canal Central, we head SW along the Montgomery Canal towards Morton, passing Gronwen Wharf (Bridge 82).

Continue under Redwith Bridge (83), to Pryce's Bridge (84) where the current restoration work is being carried out, onto Crickheath Wharf (Bridge 85), through to Schoolhouse Bridge (86).

We then leave the canal, on the Llwyntidmon road (NE), crossing the B4396, staying on the lane and reaching Maesbury, then dropping back to Canal Central.

Hazards; There are two small styles to climb. If this proves too challenging, there is a slightly longer route around them, between Bridges 85-86, through Crickheath.

The towpath is likely to be very muddy between Bridges 84 - 86, so footwear with good grips is essential, and possibly walking poles will be required, if weather has been wet prior to walk.

The towpath between Maesbury Marsh and Morton is good, however.

Waterproofs are recommended, although it is likely to be mild, so walkers should avoid getting too warm.

The walk is 5.2 miles long, and should take around 2 hours, finishing at 12.00 noon.

At Canal Central a range of light refreshments and hearty all day breakfasts can be purchased.
