Montgomery Canal Dinghy Dawdle 2009

Garthmyl (Penllywn Lodges) to Freestone Lock, Aberbechan
Sunday, June 7th, 10 30 a.m.

Dawdle to the limit this year – travel to the deep south and the very end of the navigable Montgomery Canal!
We start at the picturesque Penllwyn Lodges resort just off the A483 and head south.
There are two road crossings before the first lock at Brynderwen, then on past Abermule, under the road tunnel and on to Byles Lock.
A late lunch on the lawns at Newhouse Lock when  plaques will be presented to all entrants. Boaters and walkers can then travel on to Freestone Lock and the end of the canal in water.  Walkers will appreciate the new footpath and  may like to go along to the nature reserve at Pwll Penarth.  A short trip for boats back towards Aberbechan,  where boats can be taken out of the water and onto your vehicles which will have been previously parked in the field south of the road bridge. (A minibus shuttle to Penllwyn will be available in the morning).
Full route details and transport arrangements will be sent to all entrants closer to the date, but entry forms can be sent as soon as you like.  There may be some slight alterations to the above, but everyone will be kept fully informed.
