“Friends” Horse drawn boat trip 15/09/2012.

The “Friends” left Canal Central on the new horse drawn boat “COUNTESS” for a trip

along the Montgomery Canal to Queens Head.

Leaving Maesburys with its historic buildings they passed a patch of overgrown reeds.

Then along a very attractive stretch before reaching Bridge No.77.

The tow-path is in good condition.

Passing through Aston Bottom Lock they then met two canoes.

After leaving Aston Middle Lock, further reed growth narrowed the canal before they reached Aston Top Lock.

Approaching Queens Head with the new A5 road bridge and visitors moorings where Cracker the horse found a well earned snack.

After lunch at Queens Head, the “Friends” then re-boarded “Countess” before travelling back to Canal Central at Maesbury.

This group of “Friends” have enjoyed a taste of the relaxed travel that the horse-drawn boat provides and hope that many more people will be able to partake of this wonderfull new attraction on this restored section of the Montgomery Canal.
